Steve Fazekas

Steve is proud to be from Fairport and loved playing basketball for the Skippers. He was First Team All League, All Tri-County, and All Sectional Tournament for three consecutive years. A Plain Dealer and News Herald multiple honoree, he scored 1,085 career points. He was All State for two years, and lettered in track (three years) and football. He also served as a high school football and basketball referee.

Steve went on to become a professional golf teacher and club fitter. He won around 100 amateur golf competitions, including an international team tournament with teams from five countries. He holds Shares 2- and 4-man scramble records, and authored “Ten Days in Golf Heaven,” chronicling his golf trips to Scotland.

In education, Steve was a dedicated teacher, columnist, union leader, and influencer for 30 years. He earned Teacher of the Year honors and coached basketball and Little League. He was also a winner of tennis and backgammon tournaments. Steve has been a vocal supporter of environmental, humanitarian, and women’s issues. He represented America positively in France and during world travels.

Most importantly, he is a loving father and grandpa.
