Stanley J. Modic
For some 40 years Stan Modic has been a well-known business journalist. A graduate of Ohio University, he started with the Painesville Telegraph, moved to Penton Publishing and in 1972 was named editor of Industry Week. He retired as vice president of Adams Publishing. His travels took him from the White House through Europe and Asia including Japan, China, Russia and Israel.
Early on he led foreign study missions to alert U.S. executives how globalization will change the world of business. His editorial leadership earned him many awards including the coveted American Business Press Grain Award, the Society of Business Press Editors Life-Time Achievement Award and election to the Cleveland Press Club Hall of Fame. Locally he served as Fairport Clerk and Council President, led his own band and was named Slovenian Man of the Year for work in that community.
