Induction Class of 2006
Roy A. Greig
Roy Greig was the Superintendent of Schools from 1926- 1946. His aim was to give the best possible education to the children of Fairport. This included music, the arts, athletics, as well as the core curriculum. He knew that a good education was essential for children to reach their full potential.
The relatively new school district was shaped largely by his vision and steady hand. In the mid 1930's he implemented the "double period" scheduling in the high school, now called "block" scheduling. He had the skill to manage the school finances in very tough times.
He was instrumental in the building of the stadium named after him (Greig Field), and the library in 1934. He had the ability to acquire and inspire a dedicated staff. He was an inspiration to many.
