Richard Mackey
Richard Mackey attended Case Western Reserve University and later graduated from Lake Erie College with a B.S.in chemistry. He worked at the Diamond Alkali Research Center and taught chemistry and science at Harvey High School in Painesville. He also was a part-time faculty member and taught chemistry classes at Lakeland Community College.
At Harvey he was chairman of the science department, American Field Service advisor and golf coach. Richard hosted several AFS students and received the Teacher of the Year Award in 1978. He was honored to be named a Fullbright Scholar and given the opportunity to teach science courses at Bancrofts School located near London, England, where he was presented to the Queen Mother during the 1974-1975 school year. He served in the United States Army, was on the Fairport Harbor Board of Education and on the Zion Lutheran Church Council.
