Melvin Hakola
Melvin Hakola had a long and distinguished career as an educator and concert artist. He served on the voice faculty at his alma mater, Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory of Music, for 38 years. He taught singing, directed opera and helped develop the music theater program. His career as a singer included over 250 performances in recital, opera, oratorio and as guest artist with orchestras.
He has been critically acclaimed as an actor and singer. In addition, he has received the Alumni Merit Award at BW for his distinguished career and service to the school and community. He attributes his successes to the excellent foundation he received in the strong academic program and the extracurricular activities of the Fairport school system.
