Class of 1955
Induction Class of 2015
Ken Valimaki
Ken Valimaki combined his own art and art education to promote his goal of "keeping the arts alive". Mr. V, as his students called him, taught art in Columbus schools for 34 years and was named "Teacher of the Year" for Columbus. Ken had the opportunity to help students discover art and develop their own creative process. Ken also conducted workshops for children and educators and served as regional director, president and committee member of many art organizations.
Ken collaborated with architects and clients to create sculptures for corporate, public, and private commissions. He was the sculptor artist for the "Spirit of Finland" sculpture at the Finnish Heritage Museum in Fairport Harbor. Examples of his work can be seen at Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park in Hamilton, Ohio, Ohio Aerospace Institute in Cleveland, Wright State University in Dayton and the National Education Association in Washington, D.C.
