Jerry M. Peterson
Jerry M. Peterson was a veteran educator for 42 years. Following graduation from Harding High, he served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. In 1950, he graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary and Secondary Education. Two master's degrees were earned at Teacher's College, Columbia University in New York City.
One was achieved in Educational Supervision (1956) and the second in Educational Administration (1971). He served 35 years in the Buckeye Local Schools in Ashtabula County, 1950 -1985 as a teacher, principal, Director of Curriculum, K-12 and as superintendent from 1973-1985.
Following his retirement, he was appointed superintendent of Jefferson Area Local Schools from 1988-1991. A final appointment was his return to Fairport Harbor as superintendent from 1995-1998. This was the highlight of his long career.
