Class of 1966
Induction Class of 2023
Janice Bradley Mawrodin
Janice was raised in Fairport with a foundation of family, faith, Finnish heritage, and community. The Fairport school system laid the groundwork for her distinguished career as a public-school educator and administrator.
Janice attended Ohio University, earning a BS in Special Education. Her passion for helping others, along with some sisu, led her to Australia, where she became one of the country’s first master’s-degree-trained educators. Janice was at the forefront of initiatives that shaped Special Education in the state of Queensland, Australia. She played an integral role in developing and implementing statewide student inclusion guidelines and the teacher training program. Janice created the first partnership linking special-needs students with community employers, and she established the first high-school life-skills department.
Janice retired in 2022 after 52 years of teaching and is enjoying her role as Grandma of two.
She maintains strong ties with the village, giving presentations about Australia to generations of Fairport students and organizing reunion events for classmates. Although Janice has traveled the world, she will always call Fairport Harbor home.
