Ernie Pouttu

Ernie Pouttu was President of his Fairport Senior Class. He was a student janitor, wrestled, and played sousaphone in the concert and marching bands. Ernie holds degrees from Kent State University and the University of Akron. He is President and CEO of Harwick Standard, beginning his career at Ernst & Young.

Ernie is actively engaged in Akron, serving on numerous boards including Leadership Akron, Greater Akron Chamber, Akron Civic Theater, Ballet Excel Ohio, ArtsNow, and the Akron Community Foundation. He is a 44-year volunteer at Akron’s professional golf tournaments. He received the University of Akron Distinguished Business Alumni Award and was selected as an Honorary Chair for Akron’s Bicentennial Commission.

Ernie enjoys running, biking, golf, reading, and music. He has completed 73 marathons, including all 20 Akron Marathons. Ernie is married to Mary Kay, and they are proud parents of grown children, Ernie and Carly.
