Dr. Julius Gurley
Dr. Julius Gurley practiced general dentistry in Painesville for 53 years. Following high school, he served in the United States Navy during World War II in the South Pacific aboard the USS Fuller. Upon returning from the war, he attended The Ohio State University and graduated first (summa cum laude) in his dental class winning the Callahan Award for outstanding academic achievement.
During his life in Fairport, Dr. Gurley served on the Fairport Board of Education for 16 years, including 12 years as President. He and his wife, Emma, raised six sons all of whom attended The Ohio State University and are contributing professional members of society. Their professions include interventional cardiologist, dentist, spine surgeon, chemist, senior marketing director, and an industrial and systems engineer.
