Donald Blakeslee
Donald Blakeslee was a member of the Fourth Fighter Group squadron in 1944 that scored 500 victories and was recognized in mid April 1944 by Supreme Allied Commander, Dwight D. Eisenhower.
He came to Debden to award Colonel Donald Blakeslee the Distinguished Flying Cross for his efforts in what was known as “The Battle of Germany”. Donald was also captain of the 133rd Eagle Squadron. He was a member of both the US Air Force and the Royal Canadian Air Patrol serving in WWII, Korea and Vietnam before retiring in 1972.
